Process Modelling

Managing your processes starts with building an understanding of them. Visualisation is the first step to understanding.
Process modelling should be more than simple flowcharting. It should be a systematic but collaborative endeavour to understand the steps and decisions that occur in your organisation. It should provide you with a common language to manage change more effectively.
Done well, process modelling can empower your organisation to become stronger and more productive.
Achieving these types of benefits takes experience and expertise. At Axispoint, we have assembled a diverse and experienced team of business, process and technical professionals to help you get started with processes modelling. We have successfully trained companies in the skills and techniques they need to be successful. We have also gone into organisations to lead the initiative for them. We want to work with you in the best way to ensure that we meet your goals.
The Axispoint Solution
Every business is different so every Axispoint engagement is tailored to each client’s unique requirements, culture and level of process maturity. Usually, we provide a mix of training and consulting services that both help you get started and teach you how to keep the momentum going.
The following would represent a common mix of services:
- Program coordination – Not every process needs modelling to achieve business results. A process analyst will help determine those that do. Getting the organisation right early on can help to materially accelerate returns.
- Training – Core team members would go through a two-day training course to learn the IBM BlueWorks Live tool and how to run a process mapping session. Other tools can be used but we recommend BlueWorks Live for its excellent collaboration and version control features which encourage active engagement.
- Facilitation – Our process consultants will come into your business and help facilitate process discovery and modelling sessions. Often, having a third-party organise these meetings helps break down organisational silos. These sessions can also be used to mentor in-house facilitators to continue the process modelling or improvement program after Axispoint has completed the engagement.
- Ongoing support and mentoring – Available either on the phone, email or in person depending on the situation.
Importantly, these services also work if you are already working with a process methodology like Lean or Six Sigma. In these cases, we focus on providing you with the tools, the ability to use them and the ability to enact technology change to optimise your processes; freeing your existing Lean or Six Sigma resources to optimise the processes.
